In the words of the AWESOME 80’s band Journey I’m “just a small town girl”, but it’s definitely not a lonely world to me! This big, beautiful planet that we call home is full of countless adventures that are available to those of us who will take the time and energy to look for them. I, for one, am ready and willing to accept this challenge!
I have had many titles in my life. Wife, mother, nurse and most recently I have added travel addict to this group. My high school sweetheart and I recently celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary on our dream vacation in Honolulu, Hawaii. You know how sometimes when you dream of something for so long, when it actually happens you feel a sense of disappointment that the dream didn’t equal the reality. This was most definitely NOT the case with this trip. It was everything I wanted and more!
My husband and I are (almost) empty nesters. Our daughter was married last June in Las Vegas and our son is living at home while finishing up his final year of college. As they were growing up we were lucky enough to take several great trips together as a family and I hope to continue that tradition.
I was barely 21 years old when I started my career as a registered nurse. 23 years later I’m now older than many of the doctors I work with and I would be lying if I said that doesn’t sting a little. But this profession has offered me many blessings over the years and for that I am very thankful.
Traveling isn’t something that I was always interested in. Growing up we took 2 vacations. Both road trips, one to Florida and the other to California, I remember them being long and hot with just a few days of fun thrown in there. In all fairness though, we did take several memorable day trips to local amusement parks as well. One vivid memory of mine is having to pull over on the side of an especially curvy road due to car sickness. Fun times!
After I was married I went on my first plane ride and that’s all it took. I was hooked. I love to fly. I won’t lie the first few times were nerve wracking but now I can’t imagine a better way to travel. I love sharing my travels with friends and families. After being told by many friends that they were traveling vicariously with us through my Facebook posts and asking how I went about planning our trips I decided to take the plunge and start this blog.
I hope you enjoy the journey!
